I have finally gotten around to updating the game collection section of the site. Given that the last update was in November, my collection listings have gotten to be more than a little out of date. This game collection update is huge, as I am now well above 1,500 titles. This update includes a large collection of NES games, 3DO games, Sega CD games, and PS1 games as well as a bunch of stuff for all of the current gen systems and handhelds (everything complete, of course). Right now I am focusing mostly on trying to complete my Sega CD collection. I have about 2/3 of it, including most of the rare/expensive titles (save for Popful Mail and Radical Rex). Some highlights added to the collection since last update are Suikoden II (PS1), Magic Knight Rayearth (Sat), Pier Solar Posterity Edition (Gen), Colors of Modern Rock (SCD), Dragon Warrior VII (PS1), and a bunch of UK import PS3/PSP limited editions.

As a Wisconsin-ite possessing the odd combination of a love for baseball and having a passionate dislike of winter, the final out of the World Series is always a bitter-sweet moment for me. It means that winter is on the very near horizon (or in some years, has already arrived) but it also means that one of my favorite in-door seasons comes with it: Baseball’s Hot Stove Off-Season.
Surprisingly, given that they typically have many positions already locked up annually with big names, the Red Sox head into this year’s Hot Stove season with more question marks (along with the ammunition and will to address them) than any other club. After an odd, injury-plagued, 2010 season the fans of the Olde Town Team will be in for quite the ride.

As I've mentioned before, I'm currently in my first semester of law school. The first year of law school is generally accepted to be one of the worst ideas a human being can entertain putting themselves through. The reading is endless and you mostly cope by training your liver to process larger quantities of liquor on a daily basis than some frat houses see in a month.
Mid- to late-October is when the law school experience really starts to ramp up for 1Ls (first year law students). Mid-terms exams and legal writing deadlines start to populate your calendar. Compounding things, virtually everyone is behind on their reading in some form or another.
I sit in the unique position that not only is late-October a storied time of law student drinking excursions, but it also features the birthdays of a good friend and me. So there's pre-exam drinking, post-exam drinking, and birthday drinking... all piled upon the normal drinking that qualifies as 'networking for our futures." It's exhausting... but we manage.

Just added to my sports memorabilia collection are two new signed baseballs. The first is a ball autographed by Red Sox Hall of Famer and Ted Williams' teammate Bobby Doerr. The second is a ball that I'm very excited about - a beautiful white Gene Budig Official American League ball signed by both Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio.
It may seem strange for a die hard Red Sox fan to be extatic about the addition of a Mickey Mantle/Joe DiMaggio signed ball to his collection. I confess, I fell a little conflicted about it myself. But there can be no argument, Mantle and DiMaggio are two of the cornerstones of sports autograph collecting (along with Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Muhammed Ali, Michael Jordan, and Lou Gehrig).

Any type of collecting, whether it be baseball cards, video games, books, beanie babies, or Playboys, is always the most fun when you can share the hobby with others. As a kid, I started collecting baseball cards because of my growing love for the sport, however I continued collecting cards because it offered a way for friends to connect.
My friends and I spent untold hours together sorting cards, trading cards, or just talking about collecting. We even devised games where we would gamble upon our collections - some of them involved archery, some pitching contests, some video game contests, but the wager was always a given stack of cards.
One of my best friends recently discovered the hobby of memorabilia collecting. I couldn't be happier that he has taken a liking to the hobby. Discussing recent finds or sharing leads with one another has brought back collecting memories from childhood - the difference being back then we would ride our bikes to the store and buy copious packs of baseball cards, now we text or instant message each other with URLs.
